As July comes to a close, we have made it, everyone! The Philadelphia Eagles training camp is almost here. The heat is intense, and so are the swirling rumors. There are also endless theories and ideas circulating.
Philadelphia recently announced the signing of Andrew Mukuba. With that, all ten members of their 2025 draft class are under contract. The roster is now at its 90-player maximum, but you can best believe the shuffling isn’t done.

The Eagles are mentioned in a trade rumor involving the New England Patriots and a veteran wide receiver.
It doesn’t get more elite at the wide receiver position than the tandem of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Call it a crazy hunch, but the expectation is they’ll make the 53-man roster, as will Jahan Dotson.
Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith enter their second training camp. The other listed wide receivers are as follows: Avery Williams, Taylor Morin, Elijah Cooks, Darius Cooper, Danny Gray, Giles Jackson, and Terrace Marshall.
There’s certainly a drop-off after Brown, Smith, and Dotson. It’s for that reason that some have suggested Philadelphia entertain a veteran addition. Cory Woodruff of For The Win recently proposed an idea. His trade theory links the Eagles and New England Patriots, and it involves wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.
“Bourne still holds value as a veteran wideout who can help any quarterback, and New England might be curious to see what it could get in a future asset as opposed to cutting Bourne outright. The Eagles could give Bourne a clearer path to the field and quarterback Jalen Hurts an excellent depth option in the passing game. Adding Bourne could be a really savvy move to address receiver depth for Philadelphia.”
A seventh-round draft choice is the suggested bounty. That seems unfair. Anything in the sixth round and above seems like a price too high for the Eagles to pay. Philadelphia has a loaded roster. Sure, they can always add a few more pieces, but even though Woodruff’s idea is intriguing, it seems more sensible for the Eagles to stick with what they have.

If a surprise cut comes down the line and the prospect is too intriguing to ignore, this could change, but for now, it seems counterproductive to spend draft capital to add a guy to the roster who probably won’t be around come September.
