Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 7/22: Three Disasters

  • July 22, 2025

CLEVELAND, Ohio (TheOBR.com) – Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

We compiled our lists of questions and comments, brought our marshmallows, rolled out extensive marketing, sent a newsletter, and incorporated our Summer Camp theme throughout, aiming for a great kickoff live stream and show for hundreds or thousands of Browns fans.

Most importantly, yours truly had brilliantly invested in fantastic technology to stream our show simultaneously over Facebook, YouTube, Twitch and Twitter.

Who was to know that combining technology with a rustic, outdoorsy theme would lead to disaster?

My apologies to all our viewers who impaled themselves on a camp preview show where the audio sounded like a broken robot from a bad 1957 sci-fi movie involving blinking computer lights and some guy in a foam monster costume.

We scrambled to address the issues during the show, finally turning off all our cameras to conserve bandwidth and improve the audio slightly. Ugh.

This morning, we’re starting a project to switch hosting providers because the product provided by our streaming partner last night was completely inexcusable, and you deserve better.

At the very least, however, we can safely claim that we didn’t deliberately create a ludicrous situation. The same cannot be said, for example, of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who intentionally created this:

When the local homer guy disses the uniforms, you know you’ve got issues.

Why the Steelers decided to pair a salute to the Gotham Rogues and Tweety Bird’s bird cage/prison/Sylvester fence with business casual tan pants escapes me at the moment.

Of course, the old Steeler throwbacks were prison uniforms from a 1920s-era Buster Keaton farce, so the bumblebee look of the new throwbacks might be considered a mild improvement:

It’s legitimately hard to say which is worse. Of course, suppose I were captaining the Steelers ship, due for another mediocre record and first-round playoff elimination again in 2025. In that case, I might throw anything out there to distract from the Old Fogie convention they’ve assembled this season.

It’s always good to have our AFC North rivals to pick on when I’m feeling down. They tend to beat the Browns on the field, but leave themselves enough room for mockery in other ways.

WATCHING SPORTS IS A PAIN: Another disaster in the making. With streaming rights for individual games being granted to every streaming service under the sun, and cable bundles becoming increasingly scarce, watching all the sports you want is becoming a pain in the neck. You have to find out which app has the game on it, make sure you’re subscribed, and somehow navigate through a bunch of badly-written user interface screens to find the game.

Lord help you if you want to quickly switch back and forth between games in this new world.

That’s why business analysts believe that live sports may be heading for a moment when it’s easier for fans to use services of dubious legality to watch games. Remember Napster? It forced the music community to find a whole new way of doing business. The same may happen to live sports.

IN THE NEWS:

There are various training camp previews from ESPN, Fox 8, Akron Beacon-Journal and the Elyria Chronice-TelegramTony Grossi answers various questions from fans.Nyheim Hines was just a rumor with the Browns, but has found a new home.RB Quinshon Judkins is one of just five unsigned draft picks.

Thanks again for following the OBR’s adventures on both the web and video. If something similar happens to the OBR tonight when we crank up The React, Garage Beers, and Browns 3-D has yet to be seen. But I’ve prepared a cauldron of bubbling oil to catapult at our streaming provider just in case.
