The Seattle Seahawks completed an incredibly successful NFL draft as the latest effort to help reshape the team headed into 2025. Seattle has gotten a makeover at quarterback, wide receiver, and in the trenches on both sides of the ball. However, it seems as if what the Seahawks have done is not enough to impress the national media about their desire to take the next leap this year.
In the latest post-draft power rankings on NFL.com, draft insider Eric Edholm has Seattle listed at No. 19 overall in the league. Interestingly enough, even after the draft, this ranking dropped the Seahawks two spots. What is most interesting – or concerning – is the fact this latest power ranking has Seattle behind all three of their NFC West rivals.
Yes, the Arizona Cardinals (a team the Seahawks have swept in each of the last three years) and the San Francisco 49ers (last place finishers in 2024) are ahead of Seattle.
The Seahawks are routinely undervalued, year in, year out. And the national media never quite seems to learn its lesson, especially when Seattle enters into a rebuild/retool mode. The Seahawks were down to the 5th tiebreaker when it came to losing the NFC West crown and a playoff spot, finishing 10-7 last year. They have upgraded their offensive line, their defense will have another season under Macdonald’s tutelage, and Sam Darnold represents a potentially higher ceiling at quarterback. Not to mention the Seahawks’ offense should improve overall if they are serious about committing to the run and become successful at it in 2025.
Once again, it looks as if the 12th Man is going to have to endure another summer of doubt and negative speculation.
