Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Nic Scourton doesn’t seem to deal in doubt.
The 20-year-old defender spoke with reporters this afternoon, just a few days after finally coming to terms with the Panthers on his rookie contract. He was asked if there was any fear about not being able to ink his first pro pact in time for training camp.

“No, sir,” Scourton told Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer. “Since the day I stepped foot in the building, I’ve just been worried about football. I can’t really control those things. I let my agents and the Panthers—that stuff between them. All I can do is put my best foot forward and come out here and become a better player.”
Scourton, by this time last week, was one of 30 second-round picks from the 2025 draft who did not sign their NFL deals. That logjam was created by the agreements for Cleveland Browns linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans wide receiver Jayden Higgins, the first two second-rounders to ever receive fully-guaranteed contracts.
But now that he’s officially good to go for the summer, Scourton has found some relief ahead of his first training camp.
“I mean, I knew it was coming. As long as I stayed in good standing with the team and I did what I had to do, I knew it was coming,” he later added. “I guess it’s kinda good to just get that out of the way.”
