Legendary rock icon Ozzy Osbourne passed away on Tuesday at the age of 76. The Black Sabbath frontman is most known for his musical gifts, but he also dabbled in the sports world on multiple occasions.Â
The longtime Aston Villa soccer fan gave one of the most memorable concerts in the history of SoFi Stadium, home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.Â
Osbourne performed at halftime during the Rams’ 2022 season opener against the Buffalo Bills as Los Angeles honored the reigning Super Bowl champions.Â
It was an emotional performance for Osbourne, who had battled a string of health issues and outlined his determination to get back on stage in an interview shortly before his NFL appearance.Â
Except NBC (hosting Sunday Night Football) chose to air only 10 seconds of Osbourne’s seven-plus-minute performance. The Prince of Darkness performed Patient Number 9 (from his recent album) and Crazy Train (an all-time hit).
The Los Angeles Rams did not grace Osbourne’s visit with a victory, falling 31-10 to the Bills. Quarterback Josh Allen completed 26 of his 31 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns while adding a further 56 yards and a score on the ground. Receiver Stefon Diggs went for 122 receiving yards and a score.Â
Von Miller, who recently helped the Rams win the Super Bowl, signed with Buffalo in the offseason and immediately haunted his old side, recording two of his team’s seven sacks.Â
Veteran Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 29 of his 41 passes for 240 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions. He missed most of the season as the Rams slumped to a 4-13 record.Â
