MANOA, Hawaii (Island News) — The University of Hawaii’s football team began the first day of their training camp on Tuesday, a month away from the kick off of the new season.

The Rainbow Warriors month-long training camp started on July 23. They ran multiple drills focusing on speed and agility, really getting the boys back into the groove of things. Lots of high energy and excitement throughout the stadium welcomed them back.

A big driver for the program this year is to play well with cultural love and pride. Their first game of the season is on Saturday, Aug. 23 against Stanford at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.

“I think that’s a huge advantage for us being here and really helps because the state’s like that, the people are like that,” said UH Football head coach Timmy Chang. “And when the state and the people are like that, we have no choice but to be like that as a team because we’re a representative then.”
