The Green Bay Packers are opening training camp on Wednesday without two of the team’s Day 3 draft picks due to pre-existing injuries. According to general manager Brian Gutekunst, fifth-round pick Collin Oliver is dealing with a hamstring injury and could miss a couple of weeks, while seventh-round pick John Williams is still recovering from a back injury that cost him the entire offseason workout program.
Both Oliver and Williams opened training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Oliver, the 159th overall pick, missed all but two games during his final season at Oklahoma State after injuring his left foot early in the college football season. He’s now dealing with a hamstring injury to open his professional career.
Williams, the 250th overall pick, played a full season at Cincinnati in 2024, participated at the East-West Shrine Game and did all the pre-draft testing, but a back injury has kept him from participating throughout the offseason in Green Bay. He’ll now miss time to start his first training camp. While his timeline is unknown, Gutekunst included Williams with Christian Watson among a group dealing with more significant injuries.
Injury absences for rookies to open training camp can rob a young, inexperienced player of valuable on-field reps and opportunities to earn a role. Neither Oliver nor Williams was expected to be a starter in 2025, but Oliver has a chance to be a pass-rushing specialist who contributes on special teams, and Williams is a collegiate left tackle with an opportunity to be an important backup at guard. Getting on the practice field is the first step for the two Day 3 picks.
Another draft pick dealing with an injury is seventh-round pick Micah Robinson, who has a knee injury and was on the PUP list as of Friday, but he was seen on the field for the early portions of Wednesday’s practice, suggesting he’s been cleared.

The only other rookie injured is undrafted running back Amar Johnson, who has a hamstring injury.
