GREEN BAY (WLUK) — A first-round playoff exit was not how the Packers expected their 2024 season to end — especially when they were so close to making the NFC Championship a year prior.

But the Eagles’ postseason drubbing of the Packers has forced them to get serious about bringing titles back to Titletown.

Although Wednesday was just day one of the 2025 training camp, you could feel a sense of urgency from this Packers team that has adopted a championship-or-bust mentality.

They know they fell short of achieving their goals last season, and that’s made them even hungrier as they prepare for this upcoming season.

“Last week, when the Eagles got their rings, I text Coach Bisaccia and I was like, ‘I’m sick.’ It left a a bitter taste in my mouth and it just made me want to really play and really come in and you know, give more and demand more,” said Packers running back Josh Jacobs.

“You know, when these games get here, there’s no second chances. There’s no do-overs. You know, every play that we haven’t hit on in those playoff games before, we’ve got to make those teams pay. We’re definitely prime to take that next step. That’s the focus and the goal that we talk about every day,” said Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

And when it comes to bringing those championship goals to fruition, the Packers realize they can’t just talk the talk. They’ve got to walk the walk.

“I think we’re capable of doing some really good things. But we’ve got to be willing to do the work, and that was pretty much the message to the team,” said Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. “Are you willing to do all the little things that it takes, because it takes a lot.”

Packers tight end Tucker Kraft added, “It’s going to come down to the details. That breaks down to our our championship play style, our practice habits and holding each other accountable, and the trust and love and the brotherhood and all that comes down to just taking it one play at a time.”

Jacobs said, “You know, we’re all trying to hold each other to that standard of what we want to be and what we want to accomplish. And obviously, you know, we won one game in the North. So for us, man, that’s that’s our main focus right now.”

“I mean, ever since I’ve been here, like you said, we’ve been a team that’s done well in the regular season,” Love said. “I think that’s the standard here. You know, we’ve got to go win those games, and a big emphasis is on the NFC North. We’ve done a great job with that in the past. I think obviously, last year was our worst year in the NFC North, so it starts there.”

That goal of winning the division will already begin week one of the season, when the Packers host the Detroit Lions.
