Tampa Bay Buccaneers begin 2025 training camp

  • July 24, 2025

TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) – The first day of Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp took place on Wednesday at the Advent Health Center.

All players taking the field for the first steps ahead for the upcoming 2025 season. Bucs head coach Todd Bowles is going into his fourth season as the team’s head coach.

The Buccaneers went 10-7 last season and won their fourth consecutive NFC South division title and went to the playoffs for the fifth straight season overall.

Tampa Bay fell short in the wild card round of the playoffs against the Washington Commanders, but there’s much optimism surrounding this team for 2025.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is coming off of the best statistical season of his NFL career. Mayfield threw for 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and a quarterback rating (QBR) of 61.6.

Stalwarts like wide receiver Mike Evans and linebacker Lavonte David return for another campaign with the team that both have spent the entirety of their NFL careers with. Evans was drafted in 2014 and David has a few more tread on the tires because he was drafted in 2012.

Bowles received an extension this offseason to remain in Tampa Bay for the foreseeable future. He spoke about that during his press conference on Wednesday.

“I mean it’s always great there, but the goal is the same which is to win the Super Bowl,” Bowles said. “So, I’m not satisfied every year that we don’t. The fact me and Jason [Licht] got an extension shows the graciousness of the Glazer family. We’re grateful for that.”

There was also a surprise during the first day of Bucs camp. Florida native, Pro Football Hall of Famer, and current head football coach at the University of Colorado, Deion Sanders came out to get a look at the team.

This is mainly because his son, Shilo, was signed by the Bucs as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft.

The first day for the public to come for Bucs training camp is Thursday, July 24.
