One NFL Draft analyst believes Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles has all the tools to be a top pick in a few years.
Popular NFL Draft analyst and write James Foster posted a pair of “takes” on Chiles on social media on Wednesday that generated a lot of buzz. One of which being that he thinks Chiles will be a “top-5 pick” in the 2027 NFL Draft.

“I (don’t know) if I’ve seen a first-year starter attack the deep sideline like this,” Foster wrote in his social media post. “Arm talent to access the entire field, and rare anticipation for a 19-year old. My early QB1 for the 2027 class”
The other notable take from Foster is to essentially not focus on Chiles for the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft as he believes further progression will be needed throughout this upcoming season. Chiles is entering his second season as the Spartans starter, throwing for 2,415 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions during his first year. He also ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns last season.

I’m personally all-in on Chiles and have high expectations for him this upcoming season. Like Foster, I want to see more consistency from game-to-game (even possession-to-possession) but believe he has the ceiling to really lift Michigan State this upcoming season. If he hits that ceiling, I would consider Michigan State a lock for a bowl game and even fringe College Football Playoff contender should some other things break the Spartans way.
