The Falcons and Michael Penix Jr. started training camp this week as did the rest of the NFL. At open media day Penix was asked about his off season and visiting his former head coach Kalen DeBoer.

“He’s got a crazy house, man. The market in Alabama is crazy. His house is bigger than mine and cost less than mine, dang. He’s got a good gig over there.” Penix said.

Penix is set to be the starter this year for the Falcons and looks to have a productive year along side Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Bijon Robinson.

Penix has high expectations for himself and the Falcons team. “Potential? We should be the best in the league,” Penix said.

Kyle Pitts, Falcons starting tight end, talked about the chemistry he and Penix are building and what he can do to help the first year starter.

“Just however I can be the best asset for him and for this offense,” Pitts said. “Being a tight end is a safety blanket for a quarterback. Being at the right place, at the right time to be the best helper for him.”

The Falcons this year look to win a wide open NFC South division and make it back to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.Â
