Dan Quinn answered questions from reporters for the fourth day in a row this morning. The Washington Commanders are on the field again, a little earlier today due to the heat. The team will be doing red zone work today, and trying to create opportunities for unscripted plays.

Quinn was asked about RB Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt who has been getting hyped since he was drafted in the 7th round this year. He said, “It’s the violence of the cuts, that he can get his shoulders square and get downhill fast.”

Red zone work:

Dan Quinn said they’ll do a lot of red zone work in their final period. Said they’ll focus a lot on competition in 11-on-11 by during a “second down and play it out” session. Both sides then have to adjust to the situation: does it become 3rd and 4? 3rd and 9? then: adjust.

Michael Gallup:

Dan Quinn said Michael Gallup’s length and ability to extend is what he’s know for. It was good to see him make some plays yesterday

Josh Conerly Jr:

Quinn said Josh Conerly had a “more professional attitude” that they noticed pre-draft. Also what they heard about him from Oregon.

Terry McLaurin:

Asked Dan Quinn for a Terry McLaurin update.

Response: There is no update. He said it nicer than that.

This is Adam Peters’s area, of course, but we won’t get AP on the mic again probably until around cutdown day (or there is a resolution with 17).

Bill Croskey-Merritt:

I asked Commanders head coach Dan Quinn about rookie RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

DQ said, “it’s the violence of the cuts. He can get his shoulders square and get downhill fast…he’s off to a really good start.” pic.twitter.com/Ns9qSahSsa

Quinn and any coach will say it’s hard to tell about RBs until they get pads on, but this is what he said on what jumps out early about Jacory Croskey-Merritt: “It’s the violence of the cuts, that he can get his shoulders square and get downhill fast.”

Winning time moments:

Late July and DQ talking about winning time moments. Washington practices late game, late half every day. To quote @ngreenberg “Luck is the residue of preparation.”

Bill

Commanders fans,

Pay attention to rookie RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt.

The 7th round draft pick is focused on making the team.

He told me, “just coming in being hungry, like I have from the start… if I have a good day, I know I have to stack good days on top of each other.” pic.twitter.com/K3SooNLKdF

Swag:

Javon Kinlaw. Personable dude.

In addition to liking hunting and fishing, he’s also a pretty good football player.

Big offseason addition to this #Commanders defensive line, not to mention a homecoming! pic.twitter.com/yLVxKJDsK5

Deatrich Wise
Von Miller:

Got to talk to Deatrich Wise this morning and his approach to getting to practice early and insight on Von Miller was great “When he talks, I take notes” pic.twitter.com/IlWVGwzk00

Will Harris

The #Commanders have a ton of new weapons in the secondary, and be sure to keep your eyes on Will Harris.

He joined Washington in the offseason, and tells me he’s loving every second of learning and growing from the guys around him.#RaiseHail pic.twitter.com/iVDG0h566v

Trey Amos

Trey Amos is that dude.

LOVE this answer from the Commanders rookie cornerback.

Amos said, “I love guarding any receiver at any day…just having that mindset where nobody catches the ball on you.” pic.twitter.com/cP0iBfRVpD
