LATROBE, Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers’ second practice was cut short on Friday due to storms in the Latrobe area.
However, before the weather intervened, NEWS’s Jack Hillgrove spoke with Steelers linebacker Jack Sawyer, who shared insights about his past and present teammates.
Sawyer, a Columbus native, played a pivotal role in helping Ohio State secure its first national title in a decade before joining the NFL. He reflected on his time with Inky Jones, a Steubenville Big Red alum, who is preparing for his redshirt junior season with the Buckeyes.
“Ink is one of the most athletic guys we’ve been around,” Sawyer said. “He’s big, he’s fast, he’s strong, and we knew since he first got there, he was going to one day find a role for himself on the team and help us in a lot of ways. I’m super excited to see him get a scholarship now. He’s a great kid to be around, a super nice guy, brings good energy, and can really help in a lot of different ways.”
Jones has made significant strides since entering college, transitioning from a walk-on to a scholarship player and establishing himself on Ohio State’s special teams.
