The Pittsburgh Steelers want to ensure that Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf build a relationship.

So much so that the two new stars are getting up close and personal at training camp.

Metcalf was setting up his PlayStation when he heard a knock on his door.

It turned out to be Rodgers, who was in the bathroom as the pair are sharing facilities despite having their own rooms.

“He popped out of the corner,” Metcalf said when revealing Rodgers was in what he thought was his private bathroom.

“The toilet is super loud. So he was like, ‘Yeah, at night, if we got to p***, just don’t flush the toilet.’ I was like, ‘All right, bet.’”

Head coach Mike Tomlin is doing everything he can to ensure his two biggest weapons are on the same page at the Steelers’ Saint Vincent College outpost.

Metcalf was surprised he had a suitemate while Rodgers was relieved to find out he wouldn’t be sharing a bathroom with a lineman.

“I was secretly hoping it wasn’t a big lineman or something,” Rodgers said.

“Maybe somebody had cared about their hygiene a little bit. So, when I walked in and saw a standard suitcase. I said, ‘Oh, I think it’s going to be good. This is probably DK.'”

Metcalf, who signed a four-year $132 million deal with the Steelers after six years at the Seattle Seahawks, revealed he’s happy with the way he and Rodgers are heading.

“It was a good experience just to see his face and knowing that we could continue conversations outside the meeting room,” Metcalf added.

Veteran quarterback Rodgers, who agreed a one-year deal with the Steelers, echoed his new teammate’s sentiment.

“We talked about a lot of football stuff,” he said. “We FaceTime, we texted during the offseason after many camps, so we’ve got a good relationship. It’s going to just keep on growing.”

However, the benefits of having a suitemate are not being fully maxmised as Metcalf revealed that Rodgers has already rejected one potential bonding activity.

“I thought he did,” Metcalf said of Rodgers playing video games.

“He walked in my room yesterday and he was like, ‘Oh, you’re gaming.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah,’ and he just walked out.”

Rodgers and Metcalf’s differences have also seemingly extended onto the field.

The pair, who enjoy a good relationship, have not had the best practice sessions together so far.

During the first throw of team drills on Wednesday, Metcalf lined up to Rodgers’ left alongside Jaylen Warren.

This put Patrick Queen on alert and, when Rodgers decided to test Metcalf one-on-one, his throw was intercepted by the linebacker.

In another drill, Rodgers thought he had thrown a guaranteed touchdown but Metcalf dropped the ball.

Rodgers looked to be in disbelief as he turned around after the play.

Aaron Rodgers not fazed by interception

Rodgers, who is getting ready to play his 21st season in the NFL, dismissed the importance of his mistake.

“It’s good to get that out of the way,” he said.

“Anybody that’s watched me practice over the years, you like to try certain throws at certain times.

“And anybody that’s watched me in games knows I’ve been pretty stellar taking care of the football over the years.

“I’m going to throw some picks. But I’m going to throw some touchdowns, too.”

Rodgers and Metcalf will have many more reps together and it probably won’t be long before the pair are on the same wavelength on the field.
