Last week, the 2925 NFL draft took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Houston Texans made headlines at the draft by selecting not one, but two USC players: cornerback Jaylin Smith in the third round, and running back Woody Marks in the fourth.
Following the draft, the Texans’ leadership shared their thoughts on both Smith and Marks.

“If you saw Jaylin play in the perimeter formation; saw him play inside that formation,” general manager Nick Caserio said of Smith. “Frank thinks he can have an opportunity with the kicking game with his speed and toughness to maybe help us on the perimeter, whether it’s on punt coverage or kickoff coverage.”
“Really like Woody and what he’s able to provide,” head coach DeMeco Ryans said of Marks. “Really like him out of the backfield catching the football. Really great hands. Really has that ability to make guys miss at the line of scrimmage and the ability to play behind his pads, play physical. So, like the addition of him to our running back room.”
Marks and Smith will be walking into a good situation in Houston. Led by a young g core and playing in perhaps the NFL’s weakest division, the Texans have made the playoffs in each of the past two seasons. Now, Marks and Smith will look to help them build off of their recent successes and potentially make a deep postseason run.
