In line with Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX’s halftime show theme last February, NFL all-time great quarterbacks are sending the same message to Cleveland Browns’ fifth-round draft pick Shedeur Sanders:
Sit down … Be humble.

In a week in which details leaked out that indicated Sanders bombed a pre-draft interview with the New York Giants and several teams dropped him from their boards because of his entitled and arrogant vibe, the Browns’ rookie is getting more advice from two quarterbacks who played at the league’s highest level.
“Lead with work, not clout,” said 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton. “I think he took on the persona of a DB, not a QB. As a DB, you’re able to do certain things. You can speak loud and be rambunctious and have that bravado. But as a quarterback, reminder: you are the CEO of that franchise.”
And now here comes Warren Moon, the Hall of Famer who also took a poke at Shedeur’s cockiness that has him referring to himself as “Legendary” despite only a 13-12 record at Colorado.
“You can’t act like a cornerback when you’re playing quarterback, Moon said on the Up & Adams podcast. “Quarterback is a humble position. You’ve got to be respectful… that’s what he has to understand.”

Moon threw for 49,325 yards with four teams over 17 years, the bulk of them with the Houston Oilers. He agreed to let his No. 1 be worn by Tennessee Titans’ No. 1 overall draft pick Cam Ward.
As he begins his offseason workouts, Sanders has to not only keep his ego in check but also beat out Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel for a spot on Cleveland’s roster.
