The Miami Dolphins agreed to a one-year deal with free agent cornerback Jack Jones, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jones, 27, began his career in the AFC East as a member of the New England Patriots after he was taken in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft. But after a strong start to his career — which included a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and pick six in his first career start — Jones fell out of favor with the Patriots due to his off-field behavior.

But Jones revitalized his career after he was claimed off waivers by the Las Vegas Raiders in his second season. He recorded two pick sixes in December 2023 and started 16 games for the Raiders in 2024.
It wasn’t all positives for Jones in Las Vegas, though. He was credited by PFF with allowing 10 touchdown passes last season, which was tied for the league lead among all defensive players. After the 2024 season, the Raiders released Jones after an unsuccessful attempt to trade him.
Miami needs help at the cornerback position after releasing Kendall Fuller earlier this year and trading Jalen Ramsey at the end of June. The Dolphins signed veteran Artie Burns as part of their effort to patch those holes, but the former first-round pick suffered a torn ACL in his first training camp practice with the team. Additionally, cornerbacks Kader Kohou and B.J. Adams were injured in camp Saturday.
