The San Francisco 49ers completed their third training camp practice on Friday, the second-to-last unpadded session to open camp. As usual, social media buzzed with real-time updates from reporters and local media, giving fans an inside look at the day’s on-field action.

Quarterback Brock Purdy was excused from practice for personal reasons, opening the door for backups Mac Jones and Tanner Mordecai to take additional reps and showcase their abilities. Purdy is reportedly expected to return to practice on Sunday.

Wide receiver Jacob Cowing remains sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury on Wednesday. Additionally, multiple reporters noted that cornerback Renardo Green appeared to tweak his left leg during Friday’s session—a situation worth monitoring as camp progresses.

“It looked like he was trying to stretch out his hamstring,” Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area noted.

Here are the key practice updates as shared across social media.

After arguably his best practice with several past break ups #49ers CB Renardo Green came off the field a little gimpy. He took his helmet off, walked off the field and did not practice the rest of the session. It looked like he was trying to stretch out his hamstring.

Ji’Ayir Brown intercepted Jones and broke down post-practice huddle

Mordecai also had a pass intercepted (Jalen Graham)

CB Renardo Green had multiple PBUs, appeared to tweak left leg on deep PBU from Jones to Jennings

Also, Lenoir had brief tussle with Jennings, no biggie

#49ers CB Renardo Green had a strong practice (3 PBUs) before he was forced to exit late in the session with an apparent hamstring injury.

Day 3 practice notes:

Ji’Ayir Brown intercepted Mac Jones

Kicker watch: Greg Joseph 2-of-4, Jake Moody 3-of-4

Jalen Graham intercepted Tanner Mordecai

Renardo Green had a very solid day with multiple PBUs

With Brock Purdy absent (personal/not cause for alarm), Mac Jones took the first- and second-team reps today. I had him at 12-19 and Tanner Mordecai 9-13. That’s not counting probable sacks by Nick Bosa (v Colton McKivitz) and Bryce Huff (v Spencer Burford).

Notes and observations from #49ers practice No. 3:

– The penultimate non-padded session for the Niners was around 80 minutes and the warmest day yet though still plenty pleasant weather wise.

– News of the day: no Brock Purdy at practice. Purdy missed the session for personal…
