(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Despite the massive heat warning and significant humidity, Kansas City Chiefs fans made their way to Civic Center Park to celebrate the start of another NFL season.
Many fans had their ways of beating the heat; however, for those who struggled, the 22+2 Tailgate Crew was present to offer fans free food and water.
“The fact that we’re all from St Joseph, Missouri, we get to support the Chiefs in our own Civic Center Park is what makes opportunities like this special,” said 22+2 member and Chiefs season ticket holder, Randy Widener.Â
Braving the heat for the fourth year in a row was Country Music Artist Blane Howard. He is a massive Chiefs fan, and in addition to continuing to make new music, he also had a lot of fun creating parody songs for the team based on upcoming games or situations they were facing.
Howard is always excited to come back to St. Joseph whenever possible to play at Red Rally and enjoys seeing familiar faces.
“It’s so cool that, as a performer, seeing people that continue to come back and listen, that’s the best part,” shared Howard. “I want my music to speak to people, and I want it to affect them in some way. So having people come back and listen year after year, that’s the best part.”
The rest of the day also saw performances from Tech N9ne and others. Present for photos were members of the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleading Team, KC Wolf, and members of the MoWest Spirit Team.Â
The Kansas City Chiefs will host their next training camp practice on July 28 at 9:15 a.m. It will also be Chiefs Ambassador Day at Missouri Western State University. Fans can expect offensive and defensive linemen from the team to sign autographs after the conclusion of practice.Â
