Over the past few years, the Birmingham Stallions have been a strong pipeline back to the NFL. For DB Steven Gilmore, he’s following that exact trend – landing with the Arizona Cardinals after a strong UFL campaign with the Stallions.
Steven joined the Stallions in the offseason, and proved to be one of the strongest additions to that DB room of anyone in the league. He started in all 11 games that Birmingham played in this season, boasting a strong 73.2 Defensive Grade, alongside a 74.1 Coverage Grade.
Gilmore totaled 43 tackles, 13 Defensive Stops, and 8 PBU’s during his time with the Stallions this year. He also notched an interception in a week six win over the Brahmas. Gilmore dropped a couple of picks as well – which easily could’ve padded his stats even more.
After what was an impressive UFL season, Steven makes his way to the NFL with the Cardinals. Arizona has worked out several UFL players so far, recently signing Renegades DT Kyon Barrs.
Gilmore, brother of NFL standout Stephon, had an excellent collegiate career at Marshall. Across that span, Gilmore racked up 200 tackles, 7.5 TFL’s, nine interceptions, and a whopping 44 PBU’s. He earned Second Team All-SBC honors in 2022, as a senior where he had 41 tackles and three picks.

Steven was signed to the Detroit Lions as an UDFA back in May of 2023, and spent a couple of games on the active roster that year, but didn’t see any game action. He was released by the Lions in 2024.
