The Tennessee Titans left the 2025 NFL draft heading in a new direction. After potentially adding a franchise quarterback, landing some weapons to the offense, and infusing some quality depth on the defense, they appear set for training camp.Â
While the draft class builds upon their solid free agency class, they still have some work to do before they can become legitimate contenders in the AFC South. Yes, they are closer, but some needs still need to be addressed.Â
NFL Media analyst Judy Battista examined the Titans’ current situation and devised a plan for the rest of the offseason.Â
Boxes checked:Â
Got a franchise QB with the first overall pick.
Put weapons around Cam Ward.
Got an edge rusher (second-rounder Oluwafemi Oladejo).Â
Got more dynamic on both sides of the ball.
Still to do:Â
Build Brian Callahan’s offense around Ward.
Finally, for the first time since drafting Steve McNair 30 years ago, the Titans have a face and a true franchise quarterback. That’s not nothing for a team in need of an identity. The Titans now have to do everything possible to get the most out of Ward — build the offensive roster to give him weapons, shore up the defense so every game is not a shootout, orient the system to his strengths. The Titans got the only Day 1-ready starting quarterback in the draft — they can’t afford to wait to support and exploit that gift. Their subsequent picks included a tight end (Gunnar Helm) and wide receivers (Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor) to join Calvin Ridley. They also added Ward’s college teammate, Xavier Restrepo, as an undrafted free agent. There are still holes on the roster, but in a division without a dominant team, the Titans can at least make progress in Ward’s rookie season.Â
Tennessee has done a good job this offseason of developing and implementing a detailed plan for its rebuild. Between building the offensive line in free agency and addressing skill positions in the draft, everything has been choreographed to have the Titans trending in the right direction heading into training camp.Â
They still need to add some depth to the defense, especially the defensive line and at inside linebacker but appear to be heading in the right direction.Â
