Saquon Barkley put up video-game like numbers last season. So it makes sense that the Madden 26 cover star is one of the highest-rated players in the game — along with an Eagles teammate.
On Monday, Barkley and offensive tackle Lane Johnson were announced as members of the “99 Club” — players with a 99 overall rating in the latest edition of the Madden franchise.
Barkley and Johnson are among seven players in the club, joining Bengals wide receiver JaMarr Chase, Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
To celebrate the occasion, EA Sports gifted Barkley and Johnson a stylish “99” chain. Barkley presented Johnson with his in a video posted by the Eagles on Monday morning.
Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowl right tackle, is entering his 13th year with the Eagles after winning his second Super Bowl last season. Johnson anchored Philadelphia’s offensive line, which paved the way for Barkley to rush for 2,005 yards in his first season with the Eagles.
“Madden NFL 26,” with Barkley on the cover, launches on Aug. 14.
