The 49ers made some moves on their defensive line Tuesday.
San Francisco placed defensive lineman Tarron Jackson on the Injured Reserve List, two days after he suffered a neck injury in a team practice.
In a corresponding transaction, the team signed defensive lineman Jaylon Allen, most recently of the United Football League’s Memphis Showboats, to a one-year contract.
The 27-year-old Jackson was hospitalized on Sunday after sustaining the injury but was discharged the same night and returned to the 49ers’ facility on Monday.
Jackson’s IR designation opens a roster spot for the 25-year-old Allen, who spent time with the Denver Broncos in 2024 before playing the 2025 UFL season with the Showboats. He appeared in 10 games for Memphis, collecting 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
Allen recently worked out for several NFL teams, including the 49ers. He played his college ball at the University of Memphis.
