The Tennessee Titans took to the practice field on Day 5 of their 2025 training camp on Tuesday with an added boost of intensity clearly visible when the team hit the field. For the first time since 2025, the Titans took to the field in pads, and with it came the first of many spirited practices in the coming weeks.
It was a beautiful summer morning in Nashville, and the team accomplished quite a bit under the bright Tennessee sun.

Here are five takeaways from the morning’s action.
Defense wins the day
From all reports, the defense bounced back after an uneven practice on Saturday and won the day. The veteran-laden unit set the tone early and never let up, wreaking havoc with the young Titans’ offense. In all, the defense picked off three passes and forced a fumble, never allowing the offense to get into a groove.
Rough day for Ward
Rookie quarterback Cam Ward had an uneven day and struggled at times early in the session, and finished by hitting on 11-of-26 passes and throwing three interceptions. These up-and-down practices are to be expected as Ward catches up to the speed of the game as he transitions into the NFL, but he will improve with more reps.
Tight end battle heating up
The Titans have an under-the-radar battle happening at tight end, and it appears to be heating up. Tight end David Martin-Robinson is making his case and had another solid outing by pulling in four more balls. On the flipside, Josh Whyle had a drop and has been quiet throughout camp. Rookie Gunnar Helm has been impressive and had another solid day.
Safety in numbers
The Tennessee Titans appear to have upgraded their secondary with the additions of Xavier Woods and Kevin Winston during the offseason. Both safeties made plays against the run and the pass during the session and were noticeable. Woods had an interception and was strong against the run, and Winston made another play, dislodging the ball on a crossing route. Veteran Amie Hooker also joined in with the newcomers and showed up with at least one pass breakup.

Injury updates
Neither L’Jarius Sneed nor Lloyd Cushenberry returned to practice and remain on the PUP list to open camp. Both players were visible at the facility and on the sidelines as they work their way back from injury. Free-agent acquisition Blake Hance was held out of action on Tuesday with a calf injury; no update on his status was given.
During the session, cornerback Darrell Baker Jr. picked off Ward on a pass intended for Whyle and landed hard. After staying on the field for a few minutes, Baker left the field with the trainers and did not return. No update was given after practice.
