SEATTLE, WA (Dakota News Now) – Though it’s been a little over a week since he was selected, Pierre’s Grey Zabel says that it probably never will sink in that he got drafted by the Seattle Seahawks.
Safe to say it got a bit more real this weekend as he officially reported to work for the first time.
Zabel and the rest of his fellow rookies reported to Seattle on Friday for the Seahawks’ two day rookie minicamp, their first introduction to life in the NFL.
As the 18th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft a lot of eyes are on Zabel with the thought that he will start right away and stabilize Seattle’s offensive line.
Expectations are nothing new for Grey who has always felt like he’s been playing for his hometown.
“Just the community support has been unbelievable. Pierre is a sports town, a sports community. Super grateful for the support that they’ve given me throughout this process. Being able to do this for the community, for the kids there, is a cool experience.” Zabel says.
The former Pierre Governor learned a lot about himself during the draft process and plans to continue taking his hardhat to work at the next level.
“Just continue to bet on yourself, outwork everybody, and kind of have that chip on the shoulder mentality throughout the entire process. Just hard work and dedication to a craft can take you a long ways.“ Grey says.
The Seahawks will hold several OTAs in late May and early June as well as mandatory minicamp June 17-19.
Training camp will be in late July and early August (dates will be finalized later).
