The Seattle Seahawks are going to look extremely different from last season this year. Quarterback Geno Smith has been replaced by Sam Darnold, and his top target, wide receiver DK Metcalf, has been replaced by Cooper Kupp.

The Kupp move, at the very least, appears to already be having a positive impact on the franchise.

“I’m happy he’s on our team,” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “I just couldn’t be happier to have him as a Seahawk. All the things he does on the field, the attention to detail, the work ethic, the attitude, the enthusiasm, just as a leader of your program too.”

One of Kupp’s new teammates, Jaxson Smith-Njigba, was just as praiseworthy.

“He brings a next-level mindset. I’m super excited to be with him in that receiver room. Another stellar receiver, great receiver, and I’m just blessed to be in the room with him.”

Still, you’d think the Seahawks would wait to see how this season plays out on the field before committing to the current front office regime. That was not the case, according to one prominent league insider.

“The #Seahawks are signing GM John Schneider to a 4-year extension through the 2030 NFL Draft, per (Jay Glazer). One of the longest tenured GMs and most respected,” reported Ari Meirov.

Fans reacted to the news on soical media.

“He should be on the hot seat but I digress. He would probably openly admit that himself,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Surprised after he fumbled that trade with the Browns for Callahan,” someone else added.

“This helps keep the team stable for when it is sold in the next few years,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Scheider’s moves will end up justifying the extension.
