Virginia McCaskey’s legacy continues as the Chicago Bears unveil a tribute patch for the 2025 NFL season.

In memory of their longtime matriarch, the Chicago Bears will feature a special tribute patch on their jerseys throughout the upcoming 2025 NFL season to honor Virginia Halas McCaskey, who passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 102.

The #Bears will honor matriarch Virginia McCaskey 2 ways, chairman George McCaskey tells the @SunTimes:
• With a uniform patch similar to the ’83 GSH tribute

Beginning with the preseason opener, every Bears player will wear a football‑shaped patch sewn above the heart. The design mirrors the tribute worn after the passing of her father, team founder George S. Halas, in 1983:

An orange football with navy‑stitch detail and a white outline

Centered navy M (for McCaskey), flanked by smaller letters V (Virginia) and H (Halas) in white‑outlined navy

In keeping with Virginia’s low‑key and understated style, the Bears have opted for no throwback or alternate jerseys in 2025. Instead, they’ll stick with the standard navy home and white road uniforms, reflecting her preference for consistency, almost as if she were still making the decisions herself. George McCaskey, her son and team chairman, explained that this approach was a conscious choice to keep the tribute modest, appropriate, and entirely consistent with how Virginia served the team: quietly, respectfully, and with dignity.

For fans and the organization alike, the tribute is a season‑long reminder of Virginia McCaskey’s profound impact on the team and the sport of football.
