EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced they have signed safety Gervarrius (pronounced ger-VAHR-ee-us) Owens.
The former seventh-round pick of the Giants (254th overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft, Owens joined Minnesota after spending time with New York and Tennessee.
He has appeared in five games over the past two seasons (2023-24), including three matchups during his rookie season with the Giants. Owens began his collegiate career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, before transferring to Houston where he posted 208 total tackles, including 7.5 for loss, four interceptions, 22 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks in 46 career games with the Cougars.
To make room on the roster for Owens, the Vikings waived LB Max Tooley.
