GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers practiced again Thursday during training camp in Green Bay. Family Night is Saturday night at Lambeau Field.
Packers third-year tight end Tucker Kraft is not just a significant player for the team (he caught seven touchdown passes last season), he’s also laser-focused on getting a fifth Super Bowl win for Green Bay.
“We got in the team room and we started with the goal, and we broke it down on what we have to do,” said Kraft. “We start with the Super Bowl. That comes with winning the (NFC) North (Division). That comes with winning week one, taking care of business week one with Detroit. And that breaks down to our championship play style, our practice habits and holding each other accountable. The trust and love and the brotherhood and all that comes down to just taking it one play at a time.”
“I think he’s just scratching the surface of what he’s going to become,” said Packers head coach and offensive play-caller Matt LaFleur. “We’ve got to do a good job of giving him opportunities. He’s been able to show some of the things. I think he’s really grown as a complete football player, specifically in the passing game.”
Kraft has stated that one of his goals for the season ahead is to be a better leader for the Packers.
“I know how a lot of guys want to be talked to,” said Kraft. “I know how to reach certain individuals. It’s just a matter of how you carry yourself. It just feels way more natural. I don’t want to force my leadership style upon anyone. I want to bring people in with open arms, let them know that I’m here for them. I’m here for the team.”
It’s not all football for Kraft. He and his wife Baylee became first-time parents in early July. He’s now a girl dad to his daughter Charlotte.
“She’s a great sleeper. I woke up naturally last night at like 2. I was up for like 10 minutes then I’m like, oh I can go back to sleep. Woke up, got eight hours, first time in three weeks,” he said.
