The Tennessee Titans hit the jackpot during the 2025 NFL Draft by selecting Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick. He was by far the class’ best prospect at the position, and the Titans desperately needed a replacement for third-year signal-caller Will Levis.

Ward will step into the facility and immediately become the team’s starter under center, which means that he will face plenty of obstacles as he attempts to help turn this franchise around. New general manager Mike Borgonzi added several pass-catchers this offseason to ease the burden, including Tyler Lockett, and a trio of fourth-round rookies in Chimere Dike, Elic Ayomanor and Gunnar Helm.

Not every player on the Titans’ roster has unanimously glowing recommendations of Ward, however. Starting left guard Peter Skoronski, a first-round pick in 2023, spoke to John Glennon of the Nashville Post about some of his concerns with Ward holding onto the ball too long.

“There’s a little bit of [give and take],” Skoronski said. “Sometimes you got to throw the (expletive) ball, you know? I think that’s part of any great quarterback play, and I know Cam knows that.”

In college, Ward was notorious for never giving up on a play, which meant that his offensive linemen had to block for long periods of time. The Titans’ line is not used to this play style, so it will take some getting used to.

Skoronski acknowledged that this was a strength of Ward’s, but wants the rookie to understand how it affects the offensive line. If Ward can figure out a way to strike a balance, then there may be no stopping this Titans offense.
