With the announcement of Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin requesting a trade from his team, the speculation train will be running rampant as to who will be his suitors.
As such, we ask the question: Should the Denver Broncos be open to trading for the talented seventh-year pass catcher?

Let’s take a look at the numbers: In six years with Washington, McLaurin has played in 97 games, catching 460 passes for 6,379 yards and 38 touchdowns. McLaurin is a large target (6-0, 230 pounds), who stands to benefit any team he goes to. But would he fit on the Broncos?
Courtland Sutton is the clear No. 1 receiver in Denver, but McLaurin could pose an interesting option as a WR2. The Broncos are currently having an open competition for the position, where McLaurin would be fighting against second-year wide receiver Devaughn Vele and 2025 third-round pick Pat Bryant.
But what would the price tag be for a receiver like McLaurin? This may be the deciding factor whether the Broncos are even tempted by McLaurin. McLaurin will be 31 by the start of the 2026 season, an age where teams tend to shy away from shelling out big money for a wide receiver. In addition, it would likely take a player the caliber of at least a Marvin Mims and a potential second or first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft to sweeten the pot.
Denver is in the middle of negotiations on high-value contract extensions with pass rusher Nik Bonitto and defensive lineman Zach Allen (who might be close to an extension). With those contracts looming on the horizon, the Broncos probably can’t also afford to meet McLaurin’s contract demands after using draft capital to acquire him.

Verdict: While an intriguing idea, the Broncos should not consider trading for McLaurin when they are in the midst of negotiations for some of their top defensive talent and just gave a big extension to Sutton.
