As Tom Bean tries to make the Texas high school football playoffs for the first time since 2019, it will be senior quarterback Donnie Hooten at the controls of the fast-paced Tomcats’ offense.

The 6-2, 195 pound Hooten is an A-student, who played in seven games last season before being sidelined late in the year with an injury. The dual-threat QB loves the beloved Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, who is in both the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame.

Hooten completed nearly 70-percent of his passes last year (114-of-211) for over 1,500 yards with 14 touchdowns against four interceptions. He also averaged five yards per carry and scored 3 TDs on the ground.

Below, I talk with Donnie about a wide-range of topics from his love of the quarterback position to working toward getting his real estate license.
