Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon talks about physicality in camp

Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon talks about training camp’s padded practices to this point.

Arizona Cardinals fans and pundits are divided about whether the team should pursue the Dallas Cowboys‘ elite pass rusher Micah Parsons and the Washington Commanders‘ All-Pro receiver Terry McLaurin to help make them a playoff contender again.

On Friday, Aug. 1, Parsons posted a lengthy “Thank you Dallas” message, citing that he “no longer” wants to play for the Cowboys and requested a trade. The All-Pro pass rusher’s entering his fifth season out of Penn State.

Parsons is owed $24 million for the club option on his rookie deal this season.

McLaurin, who’s entering his seventh season out of Ohio State, requested a trade on Thursday, July 31. Last year, he helped lead Washington to a 12-5 record and an NFC Championship appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Both players are at an impasse with their teams during contract negotiations at the start of training camp.

Dallas finished 7-10 last season and missed the playoffs. Arizona was 8-9 and has not reached the postseason since 2021.

Whether the Cardinals can afford to pursue McLaurin and Parsons or not, here’s what the team’s fan base and local media had to say about their desired departures from the Commanders and Cowboys.

Micah Parsons is absolutely the piece the Arizona Cardinals need to become a true contender and dangerous playoff team.

It would be malpractice of Monti Ossenfort not to make the call and get a deal DONE. https://t.co/HCb8hwyVQy

IF for some reason the Arizona Cardinals do trade for Micah Parsons, does @LarryFitzgerald offer up number 11?

As is Arizona sports tradition, every time a big name demands a trade people want the home town team to chance him.

But why?

Terry McLaurin isn’t the answer for the Cardinals.

But maybe that’s just my Southwest Bias.
