Micah Parsons isn’t the only Cowboys player that Jerry Jones has gotten into a messy contract dispute with over the years.
Former Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant certainly can relate to what Parsons is going through amid his hold-in and newly announced trade request from the Cowboys. In 2015, the Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Bryant, but it took until the final hours before the NFL-mandated deadline to get a long-term deal done.
Had the deal not been reached, Bryant would have been required to play the 2015 season under the franchise tag and he had intimated he was willing to skip at least the start of the season if no deal came together.
Ultimately, Bryant and the Cowboys agreed to a five-year, $70 million deal, which ended up being the biggest payday of his career. Even then, he feels he failed.

In a video Bryant posted to his Twitter/X account, he showed support for Parsons after his trade request.
“What you’re doing, the message that you’re sending, the business that you’re standing on is extremely major, brother,” Bryant said. “Guys like myself, guys that came before you, we failed. We failed tremendously on standing our ground due to the lack of knowledge and the lack of support in a world that we were very unfamiliar with.
“I remember being in that situation like you. Nervous, scared, don’t know which way to go, can’t trust my support system.”

Since his tenure with the Cowboys ended, Bryant has remained a vocal supporter of the team but hasn’t been afraid to call the Cowboys out in situations like this before.
Even as a fan of the team, Bryant said he’ll support Parsons if things don’t end up working out in Dallas.
“Do what’s best for you,” he continued. “Do I want to see you with the star on your helmet? Yes I do. I pray that Jerry [Jones] and them do what’s right, pay you what you deserve. You’re an incredible talent, you are a superstar, you’re worth every penny that you’re asking for.
“If everything doesn’t work out, you’re still going to be great, because that’s who you are. Again, I appreciate you, I support you. It’s always love.”
Bryant was also extremely complimentary to David Mulugheta, Parsons’ agent in the video, calling him “one of the best agents in the business.” Part of Parsons’ trade request mentioned that the Cowboys have not reached out to Mulugheta to potentially negotiate a deal.
After Parsons’ public statement and several Cowboys players speaking out in support of Dallas’ defensive superstar, maybe Jerry and Stephen Jones will finally find the phone number of Parsons’ agent in their phone book.
