The Cowboys have made things official with their former 71-game starter La’el Collins, but his addition wasn’t the only personnel move made on Saturday.
The just-turned-32-year-old Collins will rejoin the Cowboys for his third stint with the team after not playing a single NFL snap in the past two seasons. But there’s a larger need for help shoring up an OL unit that has seen some troublesome injuries thus far in camp. So Dallas has also brought aboard veteran offensive lineman Geron Christian.

Christian was a 2018 third-round draft pick by Washington. The Louisville product played three seasons there, appearing in 24 games through the 2020 season. Short stays with the Texans, Chiefs, Dolphins, Browns, Titans, and Rams followed, though he did not actually see the field for each of those teams.
In all, the 315-pound tackle has played in 64 games (playoffs included) and made 25 starts over seven NFL seasons.
But Collins and Christian joining the Cowboys has necessitated two subtractions from the roster.
Wide receiver Parris Campbell was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. He went down during practice last weekend and was diagnosed on Monday with an MCL sprain.

Additionally, offensive tackle Matt Waletzko was waived with an injury designation. A fifth-round draft pick out of North Dakota in 2022, the massive 6-foot-8-inch Waletzko has dealt with a nagging shoulder injury that severely hampered his development. As a result, he’s appeared in just seven contests over three professional seasons.
But this time, it’s an ankle issue. The 25-year-old will officially go to waivers, where another team may claim him. If Waletzko clears waivers, he would revert to the Cowboys’ injured reserve list.
