We’re currently scheduled to host one more “Training Camp Live” show on August 5.
2. Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson had a strong practice.
Johnson, who is now two years removed from the season-ending ACL injury he suffered during camp in 2023, made two standout plays on Saturday morning.
The first, which took place during 11-on-11 drills, featured Johnson providing sticky coverage in a dead sprint downfield before perfectly timing his jump and swatting the pass away without breaking stride. It was an excellent play that broke up what appeared to be a good throw, Johnson just made an even better move on the ball.
Johnson was then at it again when, during a 7-on-7 period, he broke up a deep pass down the middle of the field. It was another excellent play in 1-on-1 coverage for Johnson that saw him win on an island.
3. The Chiefs worked on a “goal-to-go” situation during Saturday’s practice.
Kansas City focused on a “goal-to-go” scenario on Saturday that included quarterback Patrick Mahomes finding wide receiver Rashee Rice with a beautiful, over the shoulder throw for a touchdown. Mahomes then connected with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in the back of the end zone one snap later.
The Chiefs executed that scenario for a handful of plays before then flipping around and working on a “backed up” situation that challenged the offense with executing the playbook in the shadow of its own goal post.
