There are a lot of things that go into being a new parent, like learning how to change diapers, adjusting to a new sleep schedule and, of course, choosing a babysitter you trust.
Luckily for 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and his wife Jenna, who recently welcomed their daughter Millie Joleen Purdy, they have an entire NFL roster full of — mostly — responsible teammates to choose from. So does running back Christian McCaffrey, who welcomed a daughter as well, Colette Annalise McCaffrey, with wife Olivia Culpo just before the Purdys.
“I want to say [George] Kittle would be fun, but he might be a little bit too crazy,” Purdy told “The Rich Eisen Show” on Friday, when Eisen asked who he would choose to watch over his and McCaffrey’s daughters on a date night.
“We would get home from dinner and the kids would still be up moving around, and he’d be ramping them up. Like, come on George, stop.”
OK, so we know who Purdy might not choose. Maybe Kittle is more suited for the fun-loving uncle role than a rule-abiding babysitter. Then who would be perfect for the job?
“One of the offensive linemen,” Purdy told Eisen. “The offensive linemen I feel like are very mature, good dudes. Maybe Colton McKivitz or Kyle Juszczyk, fullback, he’s a Type A. I want to say Fred Warner. I don’t know, we’ll see.”
All three certainly would be excellent choices, talent on the football field aside. McKivitz is settling into family life just fine after getting married this offseason, Juszczyk is a doting dog dad to his two canines, Mozzarella and Pierogi, and Warner welcomed his first child, Bear, with wife Sydney in March 2024.
“Thoughtful men,” Purdy said. “Responsible.”
And that’s what teammates are for.
