The Jacksonville Jaguars took a chance on Dennis Daley.
For the first time, he had spent most of a season out of a contract as no team picked him up for the 2024 campaign. But the Jags liked him enough to sign him to a futures contract at the end of the season.

But on Sunday, Jacksonville placed Daley on the reserve/retired list. At age 28, he won’t be trying to continue his NFL career.
Daley had done very well for himself.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive lineman was a sixth-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2019.
He began his career with three seasons in Carolina. He played in a total of 34 games for the Panthers, starting 21 of them.

He then went to the Tennessee Titans for a year, where he was a full-time player. He started 15 of the 17 games in 2022.
His Arizona Cardinals tenure came next, in 2023, but it was cut short by injury. He played in only three games, starting one, before spending the rest of the season on injured reserve.

The Cardinals released Daley in August 2024, and no one signed him until the Jags did in early January to that futures contract which meant they got to keep him on board into the offseason.

According to the depth chart website Ourlads, Daley was slotted as the third-string left guard for the Jags, so it potentially didn’t seem like he would get a roster spot.
Daley’s retirement comes just days before his birthday. He’ll turn 29 on Thursday, August 7.
The Jaguars will continue on in hopes of having a better season. Trevor Lawrence continues to grow, and they’ve got the Travis Hunter excitement.

Daley won’t be there for the Hunter show, though, as he moves onto the next chapter of his life.
