The Carolina Panthers worked out three linebackers on Sunday.
Per the league transaction wire, the team brought in Max Tooley, Ryan Meed and Krys Barnes—whom they ultimately signed this afternoon.
A Bountiful, Utah native, Tooley played six seasons at Brigham Young University. He totaled 311 combined tackles (17 for a loss), 3.0 sacks, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles between 2018 and 2023.

Tooley broke into the NFL last spring, as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans. He’d go on to spend most of the 2024 campaign as a member of the Minnesota Vikings‘ practice squad.
Meed, like Tooley, played six years at the college level. He amassed 65 tackles (two for a loss) and a forced fumble for the University of Illinois from 2019 to 2024.
Barnes joins the Panthers in his sixth NFL season. He spent his first three years (2020 to 2022) with the Green Bay Packers and his last two (2023 and 2024) with the Arizona Cardinals.
