LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Raiders hosted a special back-to-school celebration on Sunday, providing free haircuts and hairstyling to children from the Nevada Youth Network, Pearson Community Center, and Doolittle Community Center.
Raiders players, including Daniel Carlson, AJ Cole, Geno Smith, and Amari Gainer, made appearances at the event, expressing their desire to give back to the community.
Piper Overstreet-White is the Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations for the Raiders and says this is the 4th year that the event has taken place.
Overstreet-White also says, “This is our annual signature event where we get kids ready to start the school year with a fresh cut and new school supplies.”
Gainer who is a linebacker said, “We’re out here spreading energy to the kids, being able to give back. We gout kids out here getting haircuts, having fun, playing games.”
Today served as the main event of the Raiders’ annual weeklong initiative that helps prepare students to return to the classroom.
The players who attended the event are giving back to the community who have give to them says, Overstreet-White.
The Raiders will continue their efforts by collaborating with five small businesses to offer free haircuts and beautician services to youth across Southern Nevada.
