Former South Alabama wide receiver Kawaan Baker signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, the NFL team announced.

Baker entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2021. While he spent most of his rookie season on the New Orleans practice squad, Baker had 27 special-teams plays in two regular-season games with the Saints that season.

Since then, Baker has not played in a regular-season contest.

He was on the practice squads of the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Saints in 2022 after serving a six-game suspension to open the season for violating the NFL’s Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.

New Orleans waived Baker at the end of the preseason in 2023, and the New England Patriots waived Baker at the end of the preseason in 2024.

The Raiders return their top two wide receivers from last season – Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker – and used a second-round draft pick on TCU wide receiver Jack Bech.

Already in training camp, Las Vegas will kick off its three-game preseason schedule on Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Baker played four seasons at South Alabama. With 126 receptions for 1,829 yards and 16 touchdowns, Baker ranks sixth in receptions, fifth in receiving yards and tied for third in touchdown receptions on the Jaguars’ career lists.
