The NFL season is still a month away, but apparently it’s never too early for fans to voice their complaints about CBS broadcaster Tony Romo.

Romo, 45, has been with CBS since the 2017 NFL season. He immediately established himself as an excellent game analyst, predicting offensive plays before the ball was even snapped. During his rookie season with CBS, The Guardian said that the beauty of Romo’s analysis was that it “felt like he’s in on the fun with you.”

Prior to becoming the No. 1 color analyst for CBS, Romo was the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Although injuries plagued his career, he still managed to make the Pro Bowl four times from 2003-2016.

So why are NFL fans frustrated with Romo this month? It turns out they’re not fond of his latest political move.

Last week, President Donald Trump announced that he’s bringing back the Presidential Fitness Test. As part of this initiative, he has reestablished the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

“The revitalized President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition will create school-based programs to reward excellence in physical education and support the development of a Presidential Fitness Award — working in partnership with athletes, coaches, teams, and schools to champion access to fitness and healthy living for all Americans,” the government said. “The Council will also play an important role in restoring tradition to college athletics, including reforming the broken transfer portal and keeping men out of women’s sports.”

It turns out Romo is a member of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

Once this move was finalized, NFL fans criticized Romo for joining forces with the Trump administration.

“I see Tony Romo is a Trump supporter so I’ll never watch a broadcast he is a part of ever again,” one fan tweeted at CBS.

“Tony’s finally got a job he will be good at,” a second fan wrote on X. “Just kidding.”

“This is embarrassing,” a third fan declared.

“I’m gonna have to end my Tony Romo fandom,” another social media user commented.

We’re not sure if this “Tony Romo boycott” will actually gain steam, but some people are clearly annoyed with him.

For what it’s worth, Romo isn’t the only NFL star on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. He’s sharing responsibilities with Saquon Barkley, Nick Bosa, Harrison Butker, Tua Tagovailoa and Lawrence Taylor.
