CANTON, Ohio (WLUK) — On Friday night, Sterling Sharpe and the rest of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2025 class took one step closer to football immortality with the annual Gold Jacket Dinner.
The night began when 111 current Hall of Famers were introduced one by one — guys like Marcus Allen, “Mean” Joe Green and, of course, several Packers greats, like James Lofton and Dave Robinson.
After those introductions, it was then time for the four members of the 2025 class to walk what’s known as the “Golden Gauntlet” and receive their gold jackets on stage.
Sharpe, a legendary Green Bay Packers wide receiver, was the last member of the 2025 class to walk down, surrounded by current Hall of Famers.
Waiting for Sterling on stage, so eager to give him his gold jacket, wiping tears from his eyes, was Sterling’s baby brother, Shannon Sharpe. The two immediately embraced each other when Sterling finally got to the stage, celebrating the journey they made together from two kids growing up in Glennville, Georgia to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
The brothers were then joined on stage by the rest of their family members in attendance. It was such a special moment as Sterling and Shannon, who became the first sibling duo in the Pro Football Hall of Fame together.
Tomorrow, though, is the big day — with the Hall of Fame enshrinement officially taking place Saturday afternoon.
