The Los Angeles Rams could have a new Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee as soon as 2026, but there is at least one other player who still hasn’t earned a spot in Canton.
The Rams currently have 33 players in the Hall, but Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon writes that receiver Torry Holt is one of the best former NFL players who has yet to be inducted. Holt played 11 NFL seasons, including his first 10 with the Rams, and finished his career with 920 receptions for 13,382 yards and 74 touchdowns in 178 games.
Throughout his 11 NFL years, he never finished below 700 receiving yards. And in eight of those seasons, Holt collected at least 1,188 yards with two campaigns above 1,600.
It’s no surprise, then, that Holt was a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro receiver. He held a vital role during the St. Louis Rams’ “Greatest Show on Turf” era and continued to put up elite numbers.
Holt retired with the 10th-most receiving yards (13,382) in league history and still is 17th in the category.
Sure, he didn’t always catch a bunch of touchdowns, ranking 42nd today with a reasonably modest 74 scores. But is that really the only thing preventing him from entering the Hall?
Holt was also a seven-time Pro Bowler and one-time first-team All-Pro led the NFL in receiving yards in two different seasons. Isaac Bruce, Holt’s receiver running mate from 1999 to 2007, made the Hall of Fame in 2020.
