ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — The motor of Frankie Luvu never stops — the Washington Commanders linebacker has blossomed into one of the top defensive players in the league.
He’s tough. He’s physical. He’s relentless.
Entering his second season in Washington, Luvu has been all over the field during training camp. You can’t miss him on the field. He works and works and just doesn’t let up.
His fuel and fire come from adversity. Luvu went undrafted, something that still sticks with him to this day.

“I feel like undrafted players, we have to do ten times of what a guy comes in. That’s how the business is,” Luvu told Abraham. “As I came in, I stuck with the old heads. They kept me under their wing and showed me the ropes. I found that I was in a good place. It’s an undrafted mindset for me every day. I come in and I don’t take it lightly.”
Last season in Washington, Luvu had career highs in quarterback sacks (8.0), quarterback hits (14), and passes defended (7).
He’s happy, but not satisfied. Luvu understands this team has one more step to take.
“Success for me is all what we put in as a team. My biggest success is at the end of the day, we are holding that Lombardi Trophy,” Luvu said. “It’s not a me thing. Days like this in training camp when we bleed, sweat, and grind, I feel like it’s only right that when this is all set and done, that we have a ring on our finger.”
