The 2025 Wyoming High School football season is less than four weeks away. Class 4A schools begin practice next Monday, August 11. The other four classes start in two weeks on Monday, August 18. The first games will be the weekend of August 28 through August 30. With the season getting closer, it got us thinking about what the main focus will be in the upcoming season.

WyoPreps looks at five storylines, one in each classification, as we approach the start of practice. Will other parts of the game and season catch our attention? Absolutely, but these are what we think are the big five.

In 4A, will anyone beat Sheridan? The Broncs have won four straight and have the state’s longest winning streak at 43 games and counting.

From Class 3A, will there be another team besides Star Valley and Cody in Laramie on November 15? The Braves have won three straight 3A football titles, and between Star Valley and Cody, those two have won the last 11 3A crowns.

Will it be Big Horn again in Class 2A? The Rams have won two of the last three titles in that division. They lost the 2023 championship game by a mere two points. Will someone be able to stop their run?

In the Class 1A 9-Man division, is this the most open race for the state champion? Pine Bluffs is the defending champion, but every team in the top half of the class returns some key personnel, which could make this race an interesting one.

Finally, in Class 1A 6-man, will another team contend in this division, or are we heading for another Little Snake River versus Burlington showdown? The Rattlers and Huskies have played for the title the last three years. LSR has won three of the last four 6-man titles. Can another team make a push past the two power programs in the class?

WyoPreps has some other storyline content we will be looking at as we prepare for the 2025 fall high school sports season. Maybe you have a different storyline. Let us know in the comments on social media or email david@wyopreps.com.
