A Chiefs Kingdom tradition is returning, allowing fans to show off their Kansas City pride. The Kansas City Chiefs announced the return of their commemorative, limited-edition Red Friday flags, which have been a staple of the fanbase for 12 years. All proceeds go toward Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year’s flag features a familiar phrase of Head Coach Andy Reid. The flags will first be available for an online-only presale on Aug. 7 through Fanatics. This limited-quantity sale will run from Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. to Aug. 11 at 11:59 p.m., while supplies last, on the Chiefs shop website. The flags officially go on sale on Friday, Sept. 5 at Kansas City metro-area McDonald’s locations or online. This is the same day of the Chiefs’ first regular-season game against the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The sale announcement came as part of a large season kickoff lineup, including a 5K, preseason games, ESPN’s “The Kingdom” documentary debut and more. “There’s nothing like the start of football season in Kansas City,” said Chiefs President Mark Donovan in a news release. “This month-long celebration brings together our fans, players, and partners to honor what it means to be part of Chiefs Kingdom – here at home and around the world. Whether you’re in Kansas City or cheering from afar, there’s something for everyone to experience.” The Chiefs home opener vs. the Philadelphia Eagles is scheduled for Sept. 14.
