COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) – A judge has imposed an additional $10,000 bond on former Cincinnati Bengals player Kirk Barton, who is facing charges related to a fatal crash.
Barton, a former Ohio State University captain, appeared in court on Monday following his indictment for the death of 24-year-old Ethan Perry in a June collision.
Authorities allege that Barton was driving under the influence and traveling the wrong way on U.S. Route 33 when he collided with Perry’s vehicle. Barton’s attorney stated that Barton feels deep remorse over the incident, despite maintaining that the crash was not his fault.
“You would have to be the most stone-cold hearted human being in the world to not be drowning in remorse and sorrow, whether you’re at fault or not,” said an attorney.
There was currently no information on when Barton was expected to return to court.
