The Seattle Seahawks added a pair of players to the 90-man roster during training camp on Monday. The newest Seahawks are veteran long snapper Zach Triner and linebacker Michael Dowell.
Triner was originally undrafted in 2015 and it wasn’t until 2017 when he finally found his way to an active NFL roster, which was with the Green Bay Packers. Following a year out of football, Triner landed with Tampa Bay where he played from 2019-2024 and won Super Bowl LV for the Buccaneers. He was released by Tampa during the 2024 season, signed with the Dolphins’ practice squad, and then eventually signed with the Denver Broncos‘ practice squad this summer. Triner is now in the mix for the long snapper position for Seattle since the team’s regular long snapper Chris Stoll is managing a back injury currently.

Head coach Mike Macdonald said of Stoll’s situation:
“His back locked up. Not sure how long it’s going to be. He may or may not be ready for the game next week, so we’ll have to figure that out.”
As for Michael Dowell, he is a familiar face. He went undrafted in 2024 and spent time on the Seahawks’ practice squad. During his collegiate career, Dowell spent his first three years at Michigan State then his final two at Miami of Ohio. In his five years playing for the Spartans and RedHawks, Dowell racked up 239 total tackles, recorded 2.5 sacks and snagged two interceptions.
