During the Seattle Seahawks annual Fan Fest at Lumen Field on Saturday night, safety A.J. Finley suffered what was described as a knee injury that appeared significant.

After practice the updates were not encouraging, and on Monday the initial fears were confirmed when the Seahawks moved Finley to injured reserve.

Finley moving to injured reserve created an open roster spot, which the Seahawks promptly filled by signing a pair of players in linebacker Michael Dowell and long snapper Zach Triner.

The addition of Triner is insurance in case Chris Stoll is unable to play in the preseason opener Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders, with back issues prompting tight end Brady Russell to step in as the backup long snapper during Fan Fest Saturday.

Obviously, the addition of two players requires two roster spots, and only one spot was opened by Finley’s move to injured reserve. Thus, the second open spot was created by the team waiving undrafted free agent linebacker Seth Coleman.
